Abyss

 Book:Abyss

Author: @authorsabarna

Abyss is a full length play in two acts with an interval in between. It is essentially a racy crime thriller full of gritty suspense. Act one builds up slowly to result in a crescendo of conflicts between personalities and ideas finally to end with an unnatural death before the interval. Is it a suicide or a murder? Act two evolves through a series of incisive interrogations to unravel the truth, which is deeply disturbing and affecting. As the play unfolds into a very well crafted situational thriller, underneath is the debate about using land for agriculture or for industry, the ethics of a working author and the nexus of a modern state all wonderfully enmeshed into its storyline and the personal lives of its subtly etched out characters. The highpoints of the play are its central conflict between a mother and her daughter and its female sleuth ? Renuka.

🌸

Right from the beginning, The story captures the attention of the readers.

🌸

The play "Abyss" by Sabarna Roy has two acts. It is a crime thriller/mystery, and since it is a play, it is told in its entirety by dialogues and stage placements.

In the Act I, the premise is set, the death takes place and suspects are accounted.

In Act II, through a series of conversational investigation, things come to light.

🌸

The dialogues flow seamlessly. It is a tough job to write a play. The author has beautifully sketched different personalities with ease.

🌸

Language is lucid. Steady narration. Cover is mysterious and subtle. Appropriate title.

🌸

The scenes and characters are also well penned and gave a detailed read.

🌸

The author's writing style as we saw in Etchings is rigid and not much engaging.

🌸

I would surely suggest this book to everyone and particularly to thriller fans.

Overall, a good read.

The linguistic affinities and divergences between the phonetic systems of Korean and Dravidian languages

T  his article delves into the linguistic affinities and divergences between the phonetic systems of Korean and Dravidian languages, drawing insights from Chapter 1 of "A Comparative Grammar Of The Korean Language and the Dravidian Languages of India" by Homer B. Hulbert. In this seminal work, Hulbert explores the intricate parallels and distinctions that exist between these two language families, shedding light on their historical connections and typological characteristics. By examining phonemic contrasts, phonotactic patterns, and other phonological features, Hulbert offers a comprehensive analysis that enriches our understanding of linguistic diversity and evolution. Through this exploration, we aim to uncover the shared linguistic heritage and unique traits that define both Korean and Dravidian languages, contributing to a deeper appreciation of their rich cultural and linguistic significance.  fig.1: Similarities between Tamil ( தமிழ் ) and Korean ( 한글 ), the word ...

Null hypothesis Vs. Alternative hypothesis

Null hypothesis Vs. Alternative hypothesis A hypothesis is a claim or statement about a population parameter. Usually, the results of a sample are applied to generalize on an entire population(s). For example, in a class of 30 students, 12 students are sampled for their test scores. The result is that the average score is 83. This result would, however, vary with another sample. A hypothesis can be a null hypothesis or an alternative hypothesis. A null hypothesis is a statement what the majority holds to be true. The opposite or complement of a null hypothesis is an alternative hypothesis. Let us understand a problem: A light bulb manufacturer claims that the average life of their light bulb is 1000 hours. A worker believes it is not 1000 hours. He tests the claim by taking a sample of 500 bulbs. A null hypothesis (Ho) is an accepted truth and assumes that the alternative claim is false. An alternative hypothesis(H1) is what the researcher is trying to prove. In this problem, the...

BIOLOGICAL ANNIHILATION _6TH MASS EXTINCTION_2100 NO EARTH ✅

During the past 500 million years, there were five "mass extinctions". This was a  study by Gerardo Paul Ehrlich and Rodolfo.  The big five mass extinctions Late Devonian, 375 million years before - 75% of species lost. End Permian, 251 million years before - 96% of species lost. End Triassic, 200 million years before - 80% of species lost. End Cretaceous, 66 million years before - 76% of all species lost.  Scientists say we've entered a sixth mass extinction.  According to a  new study , humans are the primary cause. Earth is on the verge of sixth mass extinction.  Scientists warn that the "6th mass extinction" of wildlife is more severe than perceived. Scientists had analyzed both common and rare species of animals world. The Earth’s sixth mass extinction is more severe than thought. It would appear by just counting lost or surviving species. The population of all species is in decline. Their only natural habitat is decreasing worse. ...
